Let Me Hold The Remote Control. . .

Guys have to hold the remote control to the TV, right? So they can surf through the fifteen hundred channels on cable. Not to mention all the HD channels now…

So, when Robbie Hart sings this line in his serenade to Julia Sullivan, “I’ll even let you hold the remote control” that’s saying a lot, isn’t it?

It was then that I knew this was one of my most favorite movies ever.

As in, EVER!

I have other favorites as well, but this one sticks out the most to me. Maybe because I think Adam Sandler is a comedic genius, but still. It’s such a sweet movie.  A little unrealistic they landed on the same flight to Vegas…but I can overlook that part because of the love factor.

What’s one or two of your favorite romance movies?

Aw, I loved The Wedding Singer! That song was too sweet and I might’ve got a little misty eyed. It was so adorable.

It’s funny that you chose this movie as a favorite because one of my favorites is… 50 First Dates…Sandler does it again and the chemistry between those two is amazing!

  3. Now, see I’m a 50 first dates girl too! I think that there is a special chemistry, romantic or comedic, between Sandler and Berrymore. It’s in the delivery. Love this! Lynn, you always amaze me at what’s your fave.

I love all the romantic comedies. I’m also a big Drew fan. 🙂

  5. I have a friend that quotes this movie all the time. She loves, loves it – I think it’s cute but I can take it or leave it.

Lynn, I guess I’m the nag on this one.
I don’t like Adam Sandler at all and barely like Drew B.
For that reason, I haven’t seen this flick.
But I am qualified to speak about remote controls. I used to be addicted to TV — mostly gave it up nearly 5 yrs. ago — and it was essential to have the remote at ALL times because otherwise I might be exposed to a stupid commercial. Ha.
Besides, waiting on the ‘crawler’ to reveal what’s on was like watching paint dry. I could zip through 45 channels in the time it took the crawler to reveal the contents of about 8 or 9.
The program guide? Fuggeddaboudit. Too complex, poorly organized, and had all that other junk I wasn’t interested in.
Nope. the only way is to have the warm remote right there … constantly working.
It’s wired into our DNA. Science proves it. Uh … overseas science. Well, somebody told me … you know.

I thought it was wired in men’s DNA….I KNEW IT! 🙂

Yep. I even wrote a running gag in my 4th novel ms. about a guy with a remote. It makes me laugh every time I read it … partly because it’s so true.
Yeah, I know: I can have my membership in the ‘guy club’ revoked for saying that.

I’ve given up trying to control any tech in our house that isn’t located in the kitchen. Though I will say, the husband was probably more excited than I was about our badass new dishwasher. Hmmmm….Swedish engineering….

I’m not allowed to drive our truck anymore since I recently crashed it. Lucky I have my little Aveo.

And yeah, I liked The Wedding Singer. Anything that brings back to 80’s is cool in my world!

yeah, Music & Lyrics (with Drew B. & Hugh G.) was pretty good.
But Hugh can make a lame movie pretty good just because he’s so likeable on screen

I’ve only seen bits and pieces of The Wedding Singer. As far as romantic comedies go, I love When Harry Met Sally. It’s an oldie, but I still love it. I also like, You’ve Got Mail. Have a great weekend, Lynn!

  10. The Wedding Singer was a fun movie. I always remember the scene where Adam Sandler sang Love Stinks. It still makes me laugh.

Love Actually is one of my favorite romantic movies. I like to watch it every Christmas.
