The theme for this week is Green as it’s St. Paddy’s Day on Thursday. Today, I’m in Los Angeles on vacation/research trip with my cousin that lives north of Houston. We try to meet somewhere once a year/every 18 months or so to have some cousin time. We’re very much alike and are very compatible travel companions. This week, we’re in LA and tonight, we have tickets to the Jay Leno show.Â
Jay’s guests tonight are Wanda Sykes, a comedian and Simon Pegg. I love Simon Pegg- he’s very funny and I’m excited to see him live- of course, I could be in the nose bleed section and he may be as small as a leprechaun and I won’t be able to see him.
Speaking of Leprechauns, my cousin and I also got an email from the folks at the Leno show that they are trying to set the world record for the most Leprechauns on air and on Thursday, they will have a mass of people outside the studio dressed as the little critters. We’ve been invited to participate but we’re gonna pass as we’ll be in Long Beach by then- we have reservations on the Queen Mary and will be taking the back scenes tour as well as the ghost tour. I plan to base book two of my historical cruise liner series on the Queen Mary so this will be a research trip as well.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day- our local pub will be selling green beer- too bad I’ll miss out!!
Thank you for your post, Jillian. Sounds like you and your cousin are having a fun time in the Big Orange.
Here’s my favorite St. Patrick’s Day joke. What happened to the snakes of Ireland that St. Patrick drove into the sea? They swam across the ocean and founded the American Bar Association.

Thanks- I appreciate the joke-especially since I am a member! LOL!

I would say I’m jealous that y’all are going to tour the Queen Mary, but that’s okay. I’ve decided that next month, we’re taking another roder. This time we’re going to St. Francisville, LA to stay at the Myrtles’ Plantation. Yeah…I won’t sleep because I’ll be jumping at everything, but it’ll be fun!
Wave to Simon for me! I love Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead!

I would love to go to the Myrtles. AWESOME!! We’ll exchange stories.
I will prob be seated in the next county away from Simon, but I’ll wave!

Logging-in later than I’d planned. Project in the garage keeps nagging at me.
I’d love to spend a day & night on the QM. Not interested in sailing across the Pacific, but just tooling up and down the coast would be fun.
Ask Jay if he’ll let you ride on one of his motorcycles.

No motorcycle ride, Alas.

Who set the clocks on this thing? I’m posting this at 7:20 p.m. EDT. Let’s see when the wordpress clock says it is.

Okay. Nothing pending.
And I see the clocks are not in Central time, as Jillian and I supposed. The WordPress clocks are either in Mountain time or they’re Central but didn’t “Spring Forward” when 95% of the rest of the country did.
So, Jillian, how was the Leno show?
It’s 10:10 p.m. EDT here.

It was great, Laurie. Lots of energy in the studio- the band played during all the commercials and they were amazing. I had been led to believe she was crazy funny, too, but she really was subdued in my opinion. We had a great time- Jay seemed very genuine and nice as he chatted before the show.

When I was a kid we visited the set — empty, however — where the Danny Kaye Show was filmed. To have gotten tickets to attend the show itself, we’d have had to plan it months ahead. Of course, just being IN Hollywood was a bit of a thrill for a movie buff like me.
I was in Jr. H.S. at the time.
