Sci-Fi Can Be Hot

So we’re talking about our favorite, hottest movies. Um, I don’t watch that many movies, honestly. And the books I read…well, let’s just say that there are too many really hot ones for me to pick out a favorite…although if you twisted my arm, I could spout off a list of names.

However, I will talk about one movie that always leaves me breathless. It isn’t a romantic comedy. It isn’t even a drama. It’s a science-fiction thriller and every time I see it, I swoon.

Pitch Black came out over ten years ago. I’d seen Vin Diesel in Saving Private Ryan and Boiler Room, but his characters in those movies did nothing for me. No, it took him becoming a futuristic murdering criminal for me to fall head-over-sneakers in love. Why? Because he was so bad! And hot. And somewhat evil. And…okay, so he had a streak of good in him too. That’s what really appealed to me.

I liked the plot of the movie, the action, the darkness of it, but there was one scene that made me sit up and go “OMG, I love that man!”

The tension between Riddick and Carolyn sizzles, it fries your brain cells, yet they never kiss. They never do more than wrestle in the mud (and hello!! I wanted to be her in that moment). Yet, you can feel their attraction for each other even though you know nothing can come of it.

This isn’t a romance. There’s no happy ever after for them, which does kind of suck, but it’s one of the hottest movies I’ve ever seen. And no, it isn’t just because Vin Diesel is running around in a tank top looking like sin. I swear.

About danicaavet

Danica Avet lives and writes in the wilds of South Louisiana. Unmarried with no children, she's the proud pet of two cats and a dog. With a BA in History, she decided there were enough fry cooks in the world and tried her hand at writing. Danica loves losing herself in the antics of her characters and blushes more often than not at the things they do. She likes to define her work as paranormal romance with a touch of Cajun spice, but most times her characters turn the notch up to "five-alarm fire"!

If this is the movie where sunlilght will kill the characters, I think I’ve seen parts of it.
Didn’t see the mud wrestling though. What I saw was the guy rescue the girl on the side of a cliff, right before the sunlight crested a distant peak and fried several of them.
    Same movie?

Ah! Same series, but you’re thinking Chronicles of Riddick (which is also full of awesome). Pitch Black is the one before it where Riddick actually meets Jack when she’s a child. They had some tension in CoR, too, but it was kind of weird because I still thought of her as a kid from the first movie.

It’s worth a look. I mean, worse comes to worst, you’ll have to watch Vin Diesel run around in a tank top and looking dangerous…and that’s never a waste of time, LOL

I’m game. I’ll add a Vin Diesel film festival to my “Movies to Watch Once I Kick the Kids Out of the House” list. Of course, I’ll have to get the kids to show me how to work the dang game system/Blue Ray player thingy and which stupid remote to use. Hot guys in a tank top…who can argue with that?
