Tennis anyone?

I didn’t do very well in school when it came to grades. It wasn’t that I was dumb or anything. Just….well, not focused.

What was I focused on?

You’d think a teenage girl would say boys, right?

Not so much. I mean a little, yeah, but mostly it was Tennis!

Yep. I played tennis year round. In Minnesota we had indoor tennis courts. They were bubble-like contraptions.

Totally cool.

My hero in the tennis world back then was Ivan Lendl.

**sigh**

He was just plain awesome.

Yeah….I focused on tennis way more than studies. Heck, I barely got a high enough ACT score to get into college…at least a couple of colleges accepted scores that low. But mostly I think it was the tennis coach from college who helped me get in so I could be on the tennis team.

Eventually, it paid off. Tennis helped pay for college. I finally got my butt–er–brain in gear and ended up graduating with honors and went on to grad school.

I could have made life so much easier had I started studying more in high school. But…in the end it worked out. Not too much damage done.

Happy Friday, everyone.

Your Friday Fox,

  1. I love tennis. Can’t play worth a darn. I have no hand/eye coordination and my depth perception is awful but I think it’s a beautiful sport. I have tons of admiration for people who have a talent for the sport.

Even back in the days when I still had speed, endurance, and hand-foot-eye coordination — I was never good at Tennis. But there was a brief period — one semester of college — when I played /practiced tennis with my brother-in-law about twice a week (I think). I got to where I could actually put a bit of strength on a back-hand!
But never could serve worth a hoot.
I see the pros playing on TV in those 4 hour matches and exhaustion just consumes me.
My hat’s off to someone who enjoys that sport and does well at it.
Lynn, you evidently thrive on athletic endeavors.

I’m not coordinated enough for tennis…that whole throwing the ball in the air and trying to hit it was beyond my hand-eye comprehension. And if I lucked out by actually hitting it, I was a mess when it came back to me!

You can’t imagine how excited I was to see this! Between you and your tennis and Danica’s experience with college radio, I’ve got two foxes for research purposes on my current WIP! I can’t say I can play tennis worth a darn, but I’ve been taking lessons for the past few months all in the name of research! Plus I like tennis a whole lot better than that running on the treadmill thing. Oh, and the outfits are way cuter.
