… Your Books, I Mean
By Jeff Salter
Next week the Foxes and I are highlighting published books by our friends, colleagues, acquaintances … or whomever. Yeah, to give all those folks a bit of ‘promo’ (and congratulations) and also to compile a significant list of novels that you and your friends can buy as Christmas presents.
When we first talked of this notion, it seemed very … well, ‘novel’. But since that point a few weeks back, I’ve seen similar book lists on blogs all over the place. So maybe the concept wasn’t quite as fresh as I imagined. Whatever.
I still like the idea of pulling together – on my blog day (Thursday, Dec. 15th) – as many titles as I can collect from people I know.
But, hey, I’m also promoting this group blog. Here’s how the two connect: This aviso of my Dec. 8th blog is the only ‘invitation’ I’m sending to those friends, colleagues, acquaintances (or whomever) … to have their books listed in my Dec. 15th blog (during the week the Four Foxes are posting their own collected lists). So, if you respond to this invitation to visit my Dec. 8th blog (today), you will have a reserved spot on the book list that I’ll post on Dec. 15th (next Thursday).
Rules
Everything has to have guidelines, so here goes:
Each entry will be for the author’s name, book title, series name (if applicable), identify the genre — or cross-genre — if you wish, publisher, price, and one LINK to a place where interested parties can purchase your book. You may add your website, if you have one.
LIMIT: THREE titles. Why the limit? Because I know some of you have already published two dozen books and I don’t want the list to teeter over under the weight of one or two authors.
Just to be sure you understand: do NOT send me all that citation info on Dec. 8th (today). Just make a regular comment on my blog today and that reserves your spot on the book list NEXT Thursday. Then send me up to three titles – in the format I just indicated – on e-mail. Here’s my address: salter8jeff[at]yahoo[dot]com.
Summary:
Today: make a regular comment on my blog (e.g., “Please include my books on your list next week”)
That reserves your spot on my book list for NEXT Thursday.
Send up to three titles to my E-MAIL address
And get them to me no later than Sunday evening (Dec. 11th)
Visit my blog again on Dec. 15th to see your titles, along with all the others I’ve collected from people who have visited this blog on Hound Day (Thursdays).
Questions:
Fire away.
I think I’ve made it crystal clear, but there’s always some detail still unclear.
NEW NOTE: Self-published and ‘Indie-published’ books are very welcome on my list! [Someone asked]
Sample format (for the entry in the e-mail you’ll send between now and Sunday evening):
Sally Jo Author
“The Handsome Werewolf Ate My Homework”
Part 3 of the Schooldays Werewolf Series
[Identify the genre — or cross-genre — if you wish]
WolfPerson Press
$3.99
[buy-link for this title]
[your website]
Remember: just indicate ONE buy-link per book title. I know you can buy most titles at seven different places … but let’s make this simple: use the most common buy-link you have.
Okay?
Cool.
I’m looking forward to seeing a huge list of titles by people I know … and I enjoy congratulating their success and promoting their books. I hope you alert your friends and neighbors to visit our group blog for the week of Dec. 12-16 for some wonderful gift ideas.
Good morning, Jeff.
This must be a first for me. I’m usually well behind the rest of your fans when it comes to commenting on your blog. Now that I’m on the west coast, it’s still evening (late evening), instead of the crack of dawn.
This is a generous offer and I’m shamelessly taking advantage. Thank you and nos da!

Welcome back, Lily. It’s always cool to be first in line. Well, unless it’s for something awful like K.P. assignments.
We were on the west coast for slightly less than a year (back in the early 70s). Sacramento.
Don’t forget to send your published titles (up to 3) to my e-mail by Sun. evening. Eager to see what you have out there.

Folks, I’ve added two details:
Identify the genre — or cross-genre — if you wish [for each submitted title]
This was an oversight.
AND
Someone inquired whether self-published and ‘Indie-published’ books may be included. The answer is YES. If it’s available to purchase (and you wrote it) … SEND it in!

Thanks for that compliment, but evidently I didn’t conceive of the idea. As I said, the very next fews after we discussed it (here) I saw numerous examples all over. So, clearly those sites had been working on it long before my eyes opened.
But, no worries for me. A re-tread is still a tread.
We’re gonna have five terrific lists here next week. Hope everybody will stop by for all five days, Dec. 12-16.

What a great idea, Jeff! Unfortunately, the one time I did get published in what was supposed to be a book for sale, ended up being a freebie online ebook,(actually two, both for Christmas, from St.Jude Shrine). If you’d like,I’ll list them for a breather in between the REAL books, if they are still available. Otherwise, I have not gotten my act together long enough to even self-publish, but give me time! I am looking forward to reading all the others.

Well, folks, it’s been a rip-snorting turnout here on Hound Day. Caught me by surprise, frankly.
In fact, not even counting a few I think will drift in over the next day or two, I have approximately 100 title citations already booked for the One Blog Book Shopping ‘Stop’ here next week. No telling how many we’ll have when the Four Foxes total their gatherings.
Since we’ve had such a terrific response, some of the Resident Foxes have offered space on their columns for next week.
Result? Instead of all 100+ titles being crammed into my blog on Thursday (15th), my list will be portioned out and there will be a large number published on Jillian’s Tuesday blog (13th). And some may be taken-in by Lynn on Friday (16th).
In other words, everybody who submitted a title should check each day next week. And, no, I didn’t not design this to trick anybody. It’s completely due to the wonderful response … and this seems the best way to handle it.
So, as you spread the word with with friends, colleagues, and other books-as-gifts-buying acquaintances, just tell them to check https://fourfoxesonehound.wordpress.com
all next week — Dec. 12-16 … for terrific gift ideas.
Thanks again for your participation. I can hardly wait for the rest of the citations to roll in. I’ve already received about one-third of the total. Fantastic variety!
