There are only 13 more shopping days left, so the Four Foxes One Hound are here to help you with shopping ideas for the reader on your list. All of today’s titles are Young Adult (teen) books by my fellow YARWA members.
Darker Still by Leanna Renee Hieber (I’m getting this one for my daughter.)
The Splendor Falls by Rosemary Clement-Moore
Texas Gothic by Rosemary Clement-Moore (I want this one for myself. I loved her Maggie Quinn: Girl versus Evil series: Prom Dates From Hell, Hell Week, and Highway to Hell. Hell Week won the Rita Award for Best Young Adult Fiction in 2009.)
The Perfect Chemistry Series by Simone Elkeles. (Perfect Chemistry won the 2010 Rita and its sequel, Rules of Attraction was a 2011 Nominee. The final book of the series, Chain Reaction, came out this summer.) Other books by Simone are Leaving Paradise, Return to Paradise, How to Ruin a Summer Vacation, How to Ruin My Teenage Life, and How to Ruin Your Boyfriend’s Reputation.
Oh. My. Gods. by Tera Lynn Childs won the Rita for Best First Book in 2009. Tera Lynn Childs has also written Goddess Boot Camp, Fins Are Forever, and Forgive My Fins. Her latest is Sweet Venom, the first in a trilogy about monster-hunting descendants of Medusa. (If you saw my Halloween blog post, you know my best costume was my Medusa one, so I’m looking forward to reading this one.)
When the Stars Go Blue by Caridad Ferrer is at the top of my favorite most recently read books. If you’ve ever been involved with dance, marching band, or lived in Miami (I’ve done all three) and want a good YA to read, this is me shoving the book into your hands saying, “READ THIS NOW!” I have told many of my marching band friends from Miami about this book to get it. Some are even now band directors themselves. Other books by Caridad are It’s Not About the Accent and Adios to My Old Life.
Jennifer Echols is another wonderful YA author and is kind of a next door neighbor in that Florida-Alabama-Georgia way. I read her Love Story and Forget You while my daughter was in the hospital for a few days this summer.
I am sure I have so many other wonderful books to recommend, but I’ve got a flight to catch and will add to this list. (Seriously, they just called my section.) However, I must shout out a few other authors you should check out or else I am in big trouble come lunchtime on Thursday. DEFINITELY check out my fellow foxes, Jillian Chantal, Danica Avet, and Lynn Rush. Plus I have to mention my dear friend Arabella Stokes. These are not YA authors, but I love them all the same!
Come back every day this week for more suggestions!
Thanks for the shout-out. Just bought Leanna-Renee’s yesterday for myself. Love her.

Did you know that she shares a love of Alan Rickman too? She shared that with me at dinner one night at RWA. She’s wonderful.

Some great ideas here, Micki. I’ve read Forgive My Fins by Terra Lynn Childs. LOVED it and passed it on to my 16 year old grandaughter.

Tera Lynn Childs was kind enough to autograph that one and Fins Are Forever for my daughter. My daughter said I have to wait my turn to read HER books. 🙂
