… for Your Christmas Gifts
Part 2 of 3
By Jeff Salter
As you already know if you’ve checked this blog during the week, we’re posting lists of books which you’ll want to consider as possible Christmas gifts.
And you will also already comprehend that the response to my invitation last week was so overwhelming that I had 70-plus citations to include.
Thanks to the kindness of Founding Fox Jillian Chantal, Part 1 of my list was posted Tuesday on her column space. And thanks to Friday Fox Lynn Rush, Part 3 of my list will appear tomorrow (Friday) in her donated space.
Part 2
So today, we have Part 2 of my list. The 70-plus citations I collected were submitted to the random sorter at Vandelay Industries and 28 were assigned to my regular blog day for posting. This group happens to include six of my former 4F1H Guest Foxes and one scheduled Guest Fox, Renee Vincent. Also in my list today is the best-selling author Caroline Bourne (who, in a previous decade, sold about one million historical romances with Kensington’s Zebra imprint and reappears here with her first new release in a while).
Everybody loves books!
Every writer loves books (whether paper or electronic) and everybody-not-named-Scrooge needs to buy some gifts this season. Also, every writer knows READERS … and readers love receiving books as gifts. Ah … then you’ve come to the right place.
This week, Four Foxes One Hound features titles you’ll definitely want to consider. Be sure to visit every blog this week!
My First E-Reader
A little bird has informed me that – if I’m a good hound – I may receive a Kindle this Christmas. Cool! I tried out my daughter’s and I liked it. I’m eager to un-wrap that sucker and start loading it up with terrific titles.

And while these next two links are not for novels (or novellas), they DO fit into the ‘spirit of the season’ and I include them here because they help raise awareness for the wonderful work of St. Jude Shrine of Chicago. [Thanks to Tonette Skube – a contributor to each anthology – for alerting me to these citations].
Originally intended to be sold by the St. Jude Shrine, these were later released as a free e-books.

Thanks, Sug. Have you gotten an e-reader yet? As a fellow ex-librarian, I’ve resisted for sev. years, but finally gave in.

And I see where all three of your titles, Renee, have been getting wonderful reviews. Most recently, “The Fall of Rain.” Congratulations.
Eager for your Guest Fox appearance here … on Dec. 29th.
Hope to learn more about your books on that date.

I’ll have you know I waded thigh deep through (large!) bouncing dogs, dragging a g-kid clinging to my ankle, to get to my laptop just now.
It’s that important to say thank you for including me in your list of authors! And after reading it, I’ve found more titles I have to have. Particularly an old favorite I’m thrilled to see writing again! May your generosity be returned to you three-fold — (and also in the form of that eReader! lol) Merry Christmas, everyone.

It takes true dedication to struggle through such a crowd just to get to your laptop, Runere. Have you considered one of those I-Pad things which you can slip into a (large) pocket … & keep right with you? LOL
Yes, I think it’s cool for Caroline Bourne’s work to see a new audience after being out of print for a while. Plus, she told me that she has a NEW novel either ready to go … or nearly so. Can’t recall particulars now, but I think it might be published in the spring sometime. Caroline, are you nearby to clarify?

I’m having fun checking out your lists, Jeff. I see at least one book here I need to look closer at. Jennifer Bray-Weber’s Blood and Treasure. I’m a pirate person. 🙂 Keep the ideas coming!

Avast!
Laurie, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. You’ve probably seen Jenn’s intriguing Wednesday photos at MuseTracks. A few of them have been pirates, I believe.

Thanks for letting me in on the spirit of the season here,Jeff…the traditional poetry included is not my usual thing, but that’s what comes out of me for this group.
BTW, as this inspired part of Tonette, I write under my maiden name, Tonette Joyce. I had copyrights under the name before I married, and let’s face it, you hear “Joyce” , you might think “writer”. You hear “Skube”, you WILL think ‘cartoon dog’!

Cartoon dog? LOL.
Well, I’ve been imagining your name with a single syllable, so now I have the correct pronounciation at least.
Glad to include those citations you sent. Hope some people click and donate money to that worthwhile endeavor.

Thanks, Jillian. From what I can determine, the e-reader will pay for itself after I’ve purchased about a dozen books (assuming the electronic versions are roughly one-third of the print version costs).
