Well, here I am on Tuesday, trying to come up with a Friday post because I looked at the wrong topic…(should have realized we were doing Thanksgiving). Since my out-of-state relatives will be in tomorrow, (and you would not believe how much work I left for myself; never again This place WILL be easily guest-ready like it used to be),I am dashing this off.
I am grateful that my family has come through so many twists of fate and that we are all together, reasonably well and in better position than many others who have no jobs or roofs over their heads.
I am grateful that I have found cousins and extended family that have been ready to resume or create relationships among ourselves despite the previous generation’s problems.
In reply to other posts this week, I am grateful to my fellow Foxes and the Hound for taking me in, making me stretch my wings, challenge me and giving me the push to put up my own blog. And in doing that, I am grateful for the response warm from the cooking/entertaining / writing blog communities for their friendship and support,(I wish a little more would spill over to here). If it were not for the Internet, I would be a maniac,(or, perhaps, according to my family at times, a WORSE maniac!)
And although I hope that the rest of you get a chance to read this, I hope I can be grateful that you have lives filled with good-times and family, as I anticipate MY week to be. So, if you do get here and I don’t get back to you right away, I will as soon as the cousins get back in the car for their 2-state drive home.
I wish all of you peace.
We were 11 for dinner yesterday … not counting 3 critters.
Four generations represented: my mom, me, daughter, & 3 grandkids.
We had thought my son and family could come, but circumstances/schedules prevented that.
Great food, good company, nice weather.
Many, many blessings to be thankful for.

(WP cut me off!) It was wonderful for us; 4 cousins and all of my immediate family:husband , sons, grandkids, (the girlfriend of one, wife of the other),my brother, mys sister, her tow daughters, son-in-law and her grandson; 19 of us and all getting along at my sisters for T-day; a quieter day with 10 today. Now, we’re winding down; cousins , husband, grandson and me; cousins leaving in the morning. Thanks for coming by,

Thank you! We had a wonderful time! I personally had a wonderful time. I had a chance to ‘do my thing’: make a lot of fancy food and have guests in and made them comfortable.
I did a lot, but didn’t let it show. I’m pleased with myself, but I am kicking back today.
I hope your holiday went well!

ours was very good, but something’s always missing without the capt home, so it’s sad too!

Nope, stuck in (well I’ll tell you but don’t tell anyone, he’s secretive about his locations) the Arctic, on his way through the storms down to the Panama Canal, hopefully to be back before 2012 ends, but they already had a 2 week delay cos of winds and rough seas. Nothing is really fun without him, if I’m being honest! But I try not to think about it and carry on!

I understand about loose lips sinking ships! You have my sympathy. I miss mine when we don’t get a lot of time together. He may be going on 3rd shift and I’m losing it; it’s hard on us. At least when the Captain is home,I hope you get ‘real’ time with him. I wish him Fair Sailing.
