Here we are with what I hear was supposed to be a ‘free’ week, but it has been one that has cried out for attention every day…until today.
The beginning of the week enlightening us on the German pre-Lenten fun of Helau; Mardi Gras and Carnival then refused to be ignored. We had Ash Wednesday and yesterday was St .Valentine’s Day I mean, c’mon! How am I supposed to follow all that?
And now, all the excitement is passed. The partying has stopped, the Mardi Gras hang-overs are over, the ashes are washed off of foreheads and if you missed Valentine’s Day, that miss is as good as a mile with any Ms., Pal. You are up-a-creek, my Friend, even if you say you have something special planned for the weekend. You’d better have said it yesterday with at least a card, (preferably American Greeting…keep my husband employed!)
Even Groundhog’s Day has passed, and I sure hope Pauxatauny Phil is right, that Spring will be early this year; I am sure ready for it.
I know, I know…Where I am we haven’t had much of a Winter, but we had more than last year, and I could use the peace of mind and the lack of worry.
I started on a big house painting and re-organization push last year and I can’t chance doing painting when I fear ice storms and power outages; I can’t remove things from the house to the garage and from the garage to thrift stores in the cold and wet. I had made big strides and now I have slacked off. Some places have become, (shudder), re-cluttered.
When I re-organize, I find that I had a renewed joie de vivre and new energy. More of my favorite things are out, which means more dusting, but I don’t care,(I don’t even care if it doesn’t always get dusted!) I found more that needs to be done, (it kind of snowballs),but I don’t care. More shelves up, more pictures to frame, more to put into albums. There are chairs to re-cover and new drapes to alter and…I feel like I am spreading my wings, expressing myself more than I had in quite a while. And despite the extra work, I have found more time and oomph to write. Go figure. I even have every intention of actually NOT ignoring my gardening this year.(That’s the plan, anyway.)
as far as we are concerned, it’s time for Spring.
Would you agree?
