My cousin, who lives in Texas, and I are very close. She’s super funny and has a wonderful sense of humor and fun. We travel a lot together and have an absolute blast. When she was turning 40, her local friends played an awesome trick on her which even all these years later still makes me giggle.
One of her friends had a friend who owned a funeral home. He borrowed a casket and some of the tall flower stands with some dead greenery still on them. A group of her friends came over in the middle of the night and placed these in her yard. On one of the flower stands they put a sign that said, “Here lies Sharon’s youth”- Her neighbor called the police to report people in the yard. The dispatcher asked what they were doing. The neighbor said they were putting stuff in the yard. The dispatcher said that law enforcement wouldn’t do anything unless they were stealing stuff and that delivering stuff wasn’t a crime. Sharon got a big kick out of it and sent me pictures.
A little over a year later, she remembered what the dispatcher said about delivering stuff when her daughter moved. It was the week before Halloween when her daughter got a new house. Her daughter moved in and immediately decorated for Halloween. Sharon and her friends went over in the middle of the night and moved the Halloween stuff and replaced it with Christmas decorations.
Of course, her daughter knew she did it so she called and fussed at her. She told Sharon that her neighbors were going to think a lunatic moved in and that she (Sharon) better get over there and take it all down while the daughter was at work.
Sharon went and took it all down but the next night, she went back and decorated the house for Valentine’s Day, hanging hearts in the trees and using red light. Her daughter called her again and said, “Mother, what are you doing?”
