Janette’s Jumble of Tuesday Thoughts…

Hmm… well, this week I’m supposed to think about which movie star (past or present) I would most like to hang out with. I think I’ll write of past AND present instead of having to pick just one. Heh, heh, heh
As most all of you know, I write about paranormal stuff and Vincent Price is someone I’ve always wished I could meet and chat with. No particular reason. I know he did not write romance like I do, but he is just someone my twisted side (if you will call it that) has always wanted to meet. I guess I always wanted to do that because he was in the old classic horror films of back in the day. Maybe I could glean some scary information and ideas from him.

As far as the present goes; I would like to hang out with Johnny Depp, Hands Down! My boyfriend knows how I feel about Johnny and he’s always quick to tell me “we’re going to see Johnny” whenever Depp has a new movie out. :)) nI don’t suppose it would take a rocket scientist to figure out “why” I would like to “hang out” with Johnny Depp. 😉 Captain Jack is my favorite roll he has played, so far. I saw The Lone Ranger on Saturday. I wasn’t disappointed by the story or by Johnny 😉 but I must say I left the theater disheartened.

NOT to say anything bad about the movie. I enjoyed it and I’m sure you will, too. I say I “left disheartened” because, being an indigenous person, it always makes me sad to be reminded about the way my ancestors were treated back in the day. That aside, Johnny had his share of hilarious one-liners. It was action packed and had a good story line. This blog is not supposed to be a movie review, though, so I’ll leave it at that.

I’ve just got to mention another star from the past who I would like to hang out with. He, um, shall I say, excites me? Sean Connery. He was super sexy as James Bond, and will forever be the ONLY James Bond in my book. And his appeal only gets stronger as he ages. I know there are lots of women out there who will agree with me on that. 🙂

I know I would no doubt have such an increased heart rate if I ever got to “hang with” either Johnny or Sean I would embarrass myself.

How many of you women out there agree with me on these two?

‘Til next Tuesday!
Romance through the mists of time,
Love through the dimensions of reality

As a kid, I was pretty much terrified by Vincent Price’s portrayal of all those spooky characters in spooky situations He did a great job. I was amazed to read a profile piece on him which indicated he loved art and cooking. I thought: “no, he likes to torture people and scare little kids!”
I’ve always been a big Sean Connery fan … which you’ll learn more about on Thursday.
    J. Depp — I can take him or leave him, but I do credit him with some very interesting and creative portrayals.

LOL! VP scared me pretty much, too! As you’ve read, I’m also a Big SC fan. 😉 So I’ll go with you on that one. As far as JD goes, you’re a Hound, so what else can I expect? You know I’d rather take him than leave him. 😉

  3. Oh, here I wracked my brain for Friday and I didn’t even catch that I could hang out with a PAST star.Man! That is going to be a hard decision!(Can I just submit a list?LOL!)
As for Vincent Price, yeah, spooky ,but he did one of THE most romantic scenes in any movie:”Dragonwick”. He was a wealthy landowner whose wife had been ill.He asked a cousin of hers to send one of the cousin’s daughters to tend to her. Gene Tierney went and there was a mutual attraction between Vincent and Gene which they never acted upon. When the wife died, Gene returned to her family. After a bit of time,Vincent came for her.He was speaking to her father and broke off when he saw her coming down the stairs. He rushed over and…kissed her hand! I was a teen and nearly swooned! I saw it afterward and it had the same impact. .
I have been proud of my native blood, Janette, little though it seems to be and we’re trying to track it down.I thought it was Cherokee, but I have been informed that I was mistaken.Cousins are working on it.
I have to day I have enjoyed many of Johnny Depp’s movies and his performances always and , well, HIM,(hey,I am a female!).
I will wait for Lone Ranger to come out on DVD.

Tonette, I can’t wait for ANYTHING with Johnny in it to come out on DVD. LOL! I also appreciated your mention of Dragonwick. I had never heard of it before. It is now on the top of my Netflix que. 🙂 Except, me thinks your romantic tendencies have fogged your memory of the story. Below is the description Netflix gave me. Just sayin’ 🙂

Joseph L. Mankiewicz made his directorial debut with this chilling gothic tale of Nicholas Van Ryn (Vincent Price), who becomes infatuated with a servant girl, Miranda (Gene Tierney), and disposes of his wife to be near her. But even Miranda is unable to give Nicholas the male heir he longs for, and when his one son with Miranda dies, he retreats into drug-addled madness. Glenn Langan and Walter Huston co-star.

    • That description does not give the movie credit. He was wonderful and when he went bad, it was bone-chilling, even though it was not supernatural.
He gave a remarkable performance in “The Whales of October” with Bette Davis and Lillian Gish.It may have been the last movie for all of them,(I know it was B.D.’s) He played a Russian count in exile. He was marvelous.

I’ve got to admit I wouldn’t know whether I know a movie with Vincent Price …. Heard of the name, but nothing really rings a bell.
As for Johnny and Sean …. O-M-G … yes please! I did like Johnny since 21 jump street.

  6. pjharjo says:

IMHO Vincent wasn’t the sexy guy I picture when I think of Johnny and Sean, but the mere mention of his name brings back thoughts of scary movies! You do need to watch some of his classic old horror movies to get the full effect, Iris. He was one of the best. 🙂

    • Iris B says:

I’m afraid Janette when it comes to horror I’m a wimp! I used to like the “Supernatural” series until they had the bloody Mary in it – I went for a WHOLE weekend w/out make-up too scared to look into the mirror …. *sighs* … I just have to take your word for it re Vincent 😦

  7. Laurie Ryan says:

I am more of a Hugh Jackman kind of gal. I admit it. My husband has watched SO many Bond flicks, I’m immune to Sean Connery. And, while Johnny Depp is gorgeous and quirky, I’ll go for the family man every time. (Although Johnny Depp is pretty good at the whole “family” thing, too) Sorry. 🙂

  8. pjharjo says:

No need to be sorry, Laurie. We’re all different with different likes and such. I didn’t quit watching James Bond flicks until they stopped starring Sean. 😉 And as for Johnny, sigh… I’ll admit it, I’ve always been drawn to the Bad Boys. (I’ve got the scars to prove it)
