Celebrity look-a-likes

Can’t say I’ve encountered very many people who resembled celebrities in the sum of their parts, but I have seen people with features which remind me of individuals in the headlines.
Here’s one example: I was introduced to the boss of my wife’s sister and immediately noticed how much her lips resembled the lips of a young Julie Christie.
I have a close friend, Carlos W. Colón, who is not only a former library colleague, but also an accomplished writer and poet, widely published in haiku and traditional verse. He also performs haiku for various groups — in a wig and bejeweled jumpsuit, he recites his verse with an Elvis intonation. He goes by the name of Haiku Elvis … and I’m sure you can see the resemblance.
Oh, just remembered another one: when I was in kindergarten – 1955-56 – I saw a man on the street in Macon GA who looked exactly like George Reeves, who played Superman on TV. I insisted to my mom that Superman was standing right over there. She eyed him up and down and told me quietly, “No, he does look similar, but the Superman actor lives in California.”

In Justin Bieber’s early days, when he had that identifying hair cut, my hubby’s nephew had the same cut and looked just like him – to the point that people would stop him on the street and ask for an autograph, then realize it wasn’t who they thought. lol Fortunately, my nephew hasn’t gone all weird like the singer. 😉

In his younger days, my dad looked an a lot like James Dean. In *my* younger days, I was told several times that I looked like Stevie Nicks.

I forgot to mention that I’ve had more than one person tell me that (before I stopped shaving) I resembled David Stockman — the budget director for Pres. Reagan.

As I recall the George Reeves (almost) encounter, I tried to talk my mom into letting me ASK that man if he was Superman. She wouldn’t let me.

When I was 24 (so about 9 years ago) I went to the movie rental place to search for a movie with the guy I was with. The lady behind the counter kept staring at me. Finally, I asked her if I knew her. Her reply was “You look like Jennifer Connelly,” Needless to say we ended up with a few of her movies just to see.
I saw some guy driving a truck not long before the carnival came to town. Just from him passing by he looked like the guy who played Hawkeye in the Avenger movies.

Hmmm Labrynth (that is the only one I can think of when she was younger than 30), Hulk (the one that was kind of awful), The House of Sand and Fog, and I think she was in that Noah movie that just came out.

I’m sure I would’ve seen someone who resembles someone else, but obviously it wasn’t noteworthy to remember. Hmmm
What I often have, though, is that I see someone who reminds me of someone from “back home”, reminds me in the sense of, the person could be a twin, until I remember I’m worlds away from “home”. Always makes me think about a “common gene pool” and ancestry.

You’ve already heard about my look-alike experiences, Jeff. But I have a funny story from today. 🙂 It’s car show season and while we were at one today, a man from across the way looked straight at me and bee-lined for me with a strange expression on his face. When he got to me, in my face exactly, he said, “Oh. I thought you were someone else. You look like her” and he left without another word. I just laughed and went on my way. You know what “they” say about each of us having a double somewhere in this world. LOL!
