Today, I’m introducing you to Kelly Tinkham. She and I have done several author events together in West Michigan and she let me read a draft of her current work in progress. Needless to say it was awesome and I can’t wait to see it published.
Tell us a little bit about yourself. I never thought I would work at a library but I do and love it! I enjoy travel and cats and boxer dogs. My favorite colors are blue and red. I’m crazy over dark chocolate.
What is your favorite thing about writing? I love the magic that happens when I create the story world my characters live in, the characters themselves, and plot how they overcome their problems to a satisfying end.
How do you develop your ideas? I enjoy history so lately I glean my story ideas from experiences people had in the past. I create a character and import her or him into similar difficulties based on the historical time period I am interested in. Before that I based my stories on experiences I had.
Where do you write? Mostly I write in the mornings at my dining room table before I head to my day job. Sometimes I migrate to the sofa with my cat or dog and cup of tea.
What is the best book you’ve read lately? I love, love, love the author Ruta Sepetys, SALT TO THE SEA.
Quick questions:
Coffee or tea? Tea
Favorite superhero? Captain America
Sandals or boots? Summer sandals!
Werewolves or vampires? Werewolves
Typing or handwriting? Typing.

Welcome, Kelly, to 4F1H.
Pleased to meet another librarian [I worked in the field for nearly 30 years before I retired].
BTW, the heroine in my Somerset Series is named Kelly!

Welcome, Kelly! Always nice to meet another West Michigander. I love chocolate too – just be sure to hide it from Jeff Salter. Hair for Mama sounds like a timely and engaging book!

I always thought I’d like to work in a library and I rather have…unpaid at my grandkids’ school.I did repair, prep and shelving…and I’d not only find misplaced books, I’d find mis-classified books The librarian loved me!
What a thoughtful idea for a book you have with Hair For Mama! I wish you all the best with it.

Hi Kelly, I love how decided to write characters into a historical setting you are interested in. I guess you like to do some research for stories. I do too. Best wishes with your WIP!
