The Director of my Dreams

If one of my books could be turned into a movie and I had any say in the matter the first thing I would do is search out Peter Jackson. This man is a brilliant director, when I watch his movies I do not find myself disappointed in the adaption. Peter Jackson did The Lord of the Ring films and The Hobbit films. He refuses to give on his creative vision. When The Hobbit was being discussed he wanted to do a trilogy with it so he wouldn’t be cutting out major scenes and losing essential parts to the story while others were telling him it should only be one movie. He held out and ended up making it the way he envisioned. The movies were fantastic!! I can’t imagine that being shoved into a two hour film. In interviews I have read that the actors who work with him have a deep respect for him and he for them. He is the man I would want directing.

I would love to see Love Overcomes as a film though I think The Second Life of Magnolia Mae would be fun as well. If Magnolia were to be made into a movie it could be filmed in Scotland or New Zealand and maybe I could tag along.

As for the cast I am not too picky. If Jackson were to sign on I know the film would have an excellent cast.

While I was writing Mongolia I pictured Jace as a young Jensen Ackles. As I wrote Bash I envisioned Richard Armitage’s beautiful blue eyes and dark hair. However since he is in his 40s there is no way he could play the young prince. I tend to watch older movies so many times actors I think would be perfect simply could not play the characters I would want so I would need to rely on the casting director.

If Peter Jackson would only turn one of my stories into a film I would dance in public. Please someone get one of my books into his hands.

I’m drawing a blank on Peter Jackson, though I did watch parts of two episodes of that LOR trilogy.
Tell you the truth, I don’t pay all that much attention to directors. In fact, I’m sometimes surprised to learn that ABCD directed such-and-such movie. It’s mostly through TCM and other “old” movie networks that I even hear the names of the directors and other key movie-makers.

If he can handle The Lord of the Rings movies, he can handle anything.

  3. A lot of people are disappointed in Peter Jackson for his adaptations of the Tolkien stories, but I really can’t see how they could have been any better directed. He truly got outstanding performances by every one of the actors.
