A Cluttered Car

This week we’re talking about our cars. I have to be honest my car is a mess! I really need to give it a good cleaning.

I have a minivan but since there are only four of us and my nephew doesn’t come over as often during the school year we don’t use the back seat. Up until this past Autumn my car was clean, nothing in it except a little trash bin for when the kids or I had water or for gum wrappers. But then people started giving me things and I placed them in my car and sort of left them there.

On the back seat are a few large toy trucks that were given to my youngest child. One of them is an older large metal fire truck complete with ladder. There is also a box from my sister filled with things she no longer wanted and told me to look through then drop off to Goodwill what I did not want. I haven’t been to drop it off yet.

Behind the back seat is my spare tire but it’s flat so I didn’t put it away properly. I left it in plain sight so I would remember to get a new one.  It was such a disappointment when I had a flat and pulled out my spare to find it also was flat (I had never used it before).

A pair of rollerskates are between the two middle seats. When we go for walks down by the river my youngest likes to put on his skates so we got in the habit of leaving them in the car since out walks are never planned. This way he has them and I would rather he skate than walk. If he walks I end up having to carry him halfway through the walk but with skates he will just hold on to me and I can pull him along if he gets to tired so having his skates in my car constantly doesn’t bother me because I know it will come in handy. During the school week my boys leave their backpacks in the car too. If they have homework they take out what they need rather than carry their heavy bags into the house. Once school lets out at the end of May the backpacks will leave my car.

In the front between the driver and passenger seat are the ice scrapers and the little trash bin.

Once summer rolls around what is in my car will change. It will not be as cluttered but there will be sunglasses, hats, and sunblock stashed away.

What sorts of things do you keep in your vehicle????

Hope you get your spare tire fixed soon! I think we’ve all had things that ride around with us for a while because we forget (or don’t have time) to take care of them.

pretty complete inventory. You are similar to me in the sense that you’ll leave the tire out in plain sight thinking that will prompt you to deal with it. Nope.
I also have a bag of clothes which have been “on the way” to Goodwill for 8-9 months… but at least those are not in my truck.
Guess that makes you and me procrastinators… huh?

  3. I consider my vehicle a home away from home. I usually have a blanket, a bottle of water, paper towels, regular towels (to cover the back seat when the dogs ride with me), box of tissues, hand sanitizer and lip balm. Sometimes I have boxes of items that I have to take to Fed Ex as part of my merchandising job. Supplies for my job. Donations for the local humane society. Music Cds and of course the requisite snow brush that I don’t dare remove till the middle of June! I loved it when I had my minivan, but my SUV holds a lot of stuff now, too.
