In the last week, I have been blessed with several tubs of fabric scraps. So many ideas for fidget quilts have popped into my head.
From my cousin, there were scraps of themed fabrics. Michigan State fabrics with the Spartan mascot which would go so well with all the greens and grays I have. Detroit Tigers fabric which must be pieced with the Tigers logo polar fleece I saved from another project and as I was grabbing fabrics to match, I found a tiger stripe fleece… perfect!
And then there were the tubs from my mom. Polyesters and silks that were a walk down memory lane. An elegant purple from my sister’s prom dress, a pale blue from her bridesmaids’ dresses, the blue, terry-cloth/velvour from my mom’s church dress that she wore with a gold and white belt, Then there was the tiny square of brick red polyester from one of my mom’s shirts, a shirt that she wore until it was threadbare. So gift ideas appeared faster than I could sort them out. I have three nieces who are expecting. What sentimental fabrics could I put together for baby gifts for them?
And that’s not even counting the sweet bundle of quilt squares from a friend or the garbage bag stuffed with the trimmed hems of prom dresses, and formal gowns from the bridal shop.
I could really use another hour or six to put a dent in these fabric piles. My boxes are taking up a wall of my bedroom and I should try to reduce that.
And that doesn’t even get me started on the books I should be writing…

If I knew, I had forgotten that you were also creative with crafts.
With all those ideas you just floated, I think you’ll need a lot more than ONE hour per day. We’d better put you in for that new twenty-EIGHT hour day.

I get about one good day a week. Sewing is something I can do when the kids are around. Writing not so much.

I am drooling over all of your scraps! I haven’t quilted or sewn in some time, but the material is here. I love fancy and/or sentimental scraps! I hope you find time. I love making baby presents.

The scraps are so fun. I remember the fabrics and giggle about the things my mom saved. Some scraps are super small and I actually had to throw them away (less than an inch wide).

Isn’t it frustrating to have all those ideas and not enough time to implement them? My kids were always good about leaving me alone to sew, because most of the time I was sewing things for them. I love seeing all your finished projects – but as Jeff mentioned, you might need a twenty-eight hour day.

They will let me sew most of the time. We’ve converted the dining room into my sewing room and that works pretty well. I’m right in the middle of the action, although sometimes their projects get in the way.
