Two Things On My Mind

Father’s Day and a New Novel

By Jeff Salter

It’s a “free” week at Four Foxes One Hound, which means no assigned topic. But I have two things on my mind this week.

Father’s Day

One concerns these few days leading up to Father’s Day. I have a friend who lost her father within these past few weeks. I know how hard this first Father’s Day will be on her because (in 2008) my wife’s dad died in April. Those eight or nine weeks were not nearly enough time for her to process that level of grief before the annual day which celebrates DADS.

Five years ago, I posted this about the two dads who were so important to me:

My Sixteenth Fiction Title

By this time next week, my 16th fiction title will be released. This story was a lot of fun to write and I believe will be enjoyable for readers to experience. At about 46,000 words, it should nicely occupy a lazy summer afternoon.

Double Down Trouble

Wrong place, wrong time… right stranger?

Julia Temple is part of the select audience for a special small town preview of certain abridged scenes from a play production that’s slated for off-Broadway later. Two of its principals are connected to Verdeville TN.

But for divorced Nashville administrator Julia, who’s been conditioned to believe she has no executive potential, the upper floor conference area of this town’s municipal annex is the wrong place at the wrong time.

Inside and outside that building, chaos explodes as dozens of dangerous escaped felons terrorize the town. They certainly want transportation, weapons, money… but there seems to be another method to their madness. Taking high-profile hostages would logically slow their getaway and it’s possible they didn’t even know the Lt. Governor was a visitor in this building. But another small group of felons seemingly delays their escape to target a facility with no evident value to anyone.

Julia needs help getting out safely, but the only man left standing is someone she’s never really seen before… even though he remembers her vividly.

This one is dedicated to my dear friend, the late Carlos W. Colón, who passed away in October 2016.

Here’s the Amazon link, but until June 21 it’s available only on PRE-ORDER… meaning you could purchase it now, but it won’t appear in your Kindle until next Thursday.

Thanks, Patricia. And I appreciate you continuing as the guru for our cover carousel —it’s one of the many things which baffle me.
