Welcome to 4 Foxes 1 Hound. We’re always glad to see you.
For an author there’s nothing more exciting than a new release. I’ve had almost twenty books published, and the thrill never goes away. Luckily for me, I have a new novel releasing on September 1. Its title is Turnaround Farm, and I’d love to share my new cover with you. So ta da! For the first time ever, here it is.
Turnaround Farm has always been one of my favorites. In particular I liked my hero Dan Wakefield. It was no trouble at all to write about Dan. It seemed that I understood him and could predict how he’d act in any given situation. For a long time I had no idea why, but one day it occurred to me that whether I meant to or not I’d based Dan on my husband. Of course that probably also explains why my husband liked Dan so much.
Would you like to read an excerpt from Turnaround Farm? I hope so because I have one to share with you. I’ll give you a blurb, and then the excerpt.
Blurb:
Dedicated career girl Holly Grant has no time for romance. She doesn’t need a man to complete her, thank you very much. Building Grant Realty takes all of her time and attention. If she can close a deal for Turnaround Farm her business will take off like a rocket. Her first problem is that Jeb Wakefield doesn’t want to sell his farm, and her second problem is Jeb’s grandson Dan, the finest looking man Holly’s ever seen.
Excerpt:
Her flushed face put his discomfort to flight. He took her firmly in his arms and kissed her just as he’d longed to do all morning. As he raised his lips from hers, Holly’s eyes fluttered open. Dan’s breath caught in his throat at the stirring of passion in those beautiful blue eyes. Could she really want someone like him? He had nothing to offer her.

Congratulations, Elaine! I hope that the cover is a good match for how you pictured Holly and Jeb. A character who you can predict will act as you expected every time? I thought I had it down with one character, surely, but she surprised me. I have another in another story who seems to be ‘with the program’, but we’ll see , when I can get back to her .
Good luck to you..I’ll have to see whether they decide that they actually can move on from the farm, or if Holly also finds that it needs to stay.

Thanks, Tonette. The cover is sort of like I pictured Holly, but Dan doesn’t look like I thought Dan would at all. Oh well. And yes, sometimes our characters don’t obey us as they should.

when did you write this one? from the way you refer to it, it sounds as though it’s been around for a while.

Congratulations on the new release! Turnaround Farm sounds like a lovely story. I can understand how basing Dan on your husband made it easier to write about him! Can’t wait to read this.

I laughed when I realized how much of my husband was in Dan. I didn’t do it on purpose, LOL.
