Announcing the Audio Release of my Ghostly Tale

By Jeff Salter

The Ghostess & MISTER Muir – my spooky story inspired by the lovely 1947 film (The Ghost and Mrs. Muir) – is now available in AUDIO format. Read below for details on how you may qualify for a FREE coupon for this title in audio!

But before I begin lauding my spooky novel, here’s a milestone for you — this is also my 400th blog here at “Four Foxes One Hound.” We began this group blog in Feb. 2011 and it’s not yet stopped. However, I’m the last of the original five members… and the only Hound, to date. We’ve had some lovely Foxes on board during these 7.5 years or so – including our Founding Fox, Jillian Chantal. And I must say that the cadre we have now is terrific.

The Heart of Magnolia Series [Clean Reads, 2014]

No self-respecting Southern girl takes second place to a spook.

Hook:
Despite not believing in spirits, it takes only one haunting for Levi Muir to become entranced with the beautiful ghostess. But will his real-life girlfriend take second place to a spook?

Ghostess&Mr-Muir-500x750

My beautiful cover is by Amanda Matthews

Blurb:

Though he doesn’t even believe in spirits, it takes only one haunting for Levi Muir to become entranced with the beautiful ghostess.

A young veteran recovering from a wrecked relationship, Muir moves to Magnolia for his first year teaching high school English and resides in the renovated old hotel, which everyone knows is haunted.

Despite his skepticism, Muir senses a presence, then smells a unique perfume. Later, he locates an old portrait of beautiful Danielle Gregg, who lived in that suite a century ago, but experienced a tragic death.

His lovely new colleague, Lucy – science teacher and dedicated Spirit-Chaser – tries to convince Muir that the supernatural is real… and not to be taken lightly. Though Muir has been attracted to Lucy since the first day he spotted her, something begins to jam his thoughts whenever she enters his mind.

Intrigued by the beauty and sensuality of the mysterious woman in the portrait, Muir tries to learn more about the ghostess and her untimely demise. Though still skeptical of ghosts and hauntings, Muir can’t shake the feeling there could be more to Danielle’s mysterious 1914 death than the locals believe.

The more Muir encounters the lovely ghostess, the stronger his desire for even more contact! But Lucy’s willing to fight for Levi’s heart, because no self-respecting Southern girl takes second place to a spook.

Comments About the Audio Version

When Clean Reads Publisher Stephanie Griffin notified me that another of my titles had just been completed in audio, I was thrilled. She gave me a few days to listen – which I interpreted as “proofing” the audio – before she finalized it with the narrator, J.C. Jacobson.

Well, despite having no preconceived notion of what the narrator should sound like, after I heard the first few lines of my novel in Jacob’s voice, I knew immediately that he had the perfect voice for my story. Mellow baritone with just enough of a Southern accent to fit my characters and setting.

I listened to the entire story and loved every minute. [To qualify this observation, let me state that I’m NOT an aural learner or reader. I’m totally a visual guy… so I rarely listen to books on tape, or the streaming equivalent, or audio books.] But now that I’ve had a delicious taste of audio books, I’m certain to come back for more. Especially because J.C. Jacobson is also on the docket to narrate another of my novels through Clean Reads!

Well done on blog 400! Wow. I really enjoy following this blog. I admit I don’t get to read every entry, but I love those that I do.

“I listened to the 4 minute sample – the opening scene – of G&MM at the Audible.com page. Would love to read your story. Love a good ghost story.

This being your 400th blog post shows dedication! Congrats, Jeff, all around! Love the animated cover and I think your narrator’s voice is spot on. He’s got that certain quality that matches your humor. I’m so happy for you and your success!

Love the giveaway, and the tasks to enter. I already have the book, and I’m working my way through my TBR list. Like you, I’m a visual person. I’ve tried audiobooks and ended up taking an unplanned nap and having no idea what happened in the story.

Thanks, Patricia. In the past, I’ve developed giveaways with (apparently) too many tasks to complete. So I wanted to make this one as simple as possible. and, if there are folks out there who can’t (or won’t) do any task… to make it possible for their names to be in the drawing pool also. Assuming they actually want to listen to the novel.
Jacob’s narration of G&MM was the very first novel — or book of any kind — that I’ve listened to, from beginning to end.

    Congrats on number 400 Jeff!
And obviously, great job on “The Ghostess & Mr Muir”. It was a lot of fun to narrate and I appreciate the kind words!

Next step for us, Jacob, is for our collaboration to hit the top of the Audible.com charts — assuming they have charts. Then while the audio of G&MM is riding high, perhaps C2AA will be ready in audio and we can ride that wave all the way to the shore.
Or… if none of that happens, we can just enjoy a good story with great narration.

  5. 400, Congrats! I have had a ball in my years here.
I have done ALL! I got into audiobooks as I was busy and now that I have recuperated enough to handle headphones. It has been a pleasure to personally correspond with Jacob the last few days; I had no idea that he had narrated your book, Jeff. I listened to his “Hamilton” sample the other day and found that he has a wonderful voice.
    I WOULD ADORE A COUPON!

  6. 400!!! That’s a huge accomplishment! I absolutely love this story! It is one of my favorites of yours and I was just getting ready to read it again as it is getting toward Autumn and Halloween. Which of your other books is in audio form?
I’ll need to get this in audiobook. It would be great to listen to while I’m at work.

Jacob has been contracted to do another of my novels, but at present I have two previous novels already in audio — though by different narrators.
