Fall is here and I am so happy! I love the change from sweltering heat to cool days filled with colorful leaves falling. Every morning on my way to work I get to see even more color than there was the day before. Many of the days are filled with mist. Last week there were four deer in the corn field shrouded by the mist. I adore foggy days. There’s something so relaxing about it. I know there are some who don’t like it, even some who are scared of going out in it. I find comfort in the mist. I find it soothing, it’s like the world is wrapped up. It always brings a smile to my face no matter what my mood is.
This past weekend we went out and bought some pumpkins from a local produce stand out in the middle of the country. It was nice to get out of the house for a little drive. The kids started decorating the house for Halloween. We started baking again. The house smells amazing.
I’m working on my stories again. I don’t know why but I can’t write in the summer months. I need darkness to write. With the earlier nights I get more time to write. The sun sets around seven right now so I have a few hours to be creative before I head to bed. I find myself jotting down quick notes while at work and looking forward to getting home so I can get those ideas down into the story.
Does the change from summer to fall rejuvenate or deflate you?
