Introducing Iris Blobel’s New Novel
In the Shadows of a Lie
By Jeff Salter
Readers who’ve been with us – here at 4F1H – for a while may remember when Iris Blobel was one of the Resident Foxes. I’ve had her back a few times since her tenure [ ? 2012 – 2014 ? ] and was able to track her down again, down under (where she lives). Take a look at her new book!
I asked Iris to share a bit about how this story came to life:
Thank you, Jeff, for having me here at 4F1H to share my latest release “In the Shadows of a Lie”. It’s good to be back after all these years.
“In the Shadows of a Lie” is mainly set in New Zealand, Lake Tekapo to be exact. We’ve been very lucky to have had the chance to travel to NZ twice over the last few years and each time I fell in love with the country a little more. So, when my readers loved my first NZ novel “Their Bond through Jade”, in was a no-brainer to write another story which would take my main character across the Tasman Sea. One reviewer describes the story as a “Heartwarming story about love, forgiveness and acceptance”, and I think this is exactly what I wanted to convey.
But, hey, NZ is also known for its earthquakes, so I had to add one to the story as well. ☺
All in all, I can’t wait for Lani and Dylan to see the light of day. It’s a special story to me and I hope the 1F1H readers will like it just as much. The book is currently on pre-order for a special price of 99c.
Author blurb
Iris Blobel writes warm, sexy, and sometimes witty Australian Contemporary Romance books for readers who, like herself, still strongly believe in love and Happily Ever Afters. And she knows HEAs. Her couples are hungry for life, done with the past, passionate about family, and emotionally hopeful for a future. The stories are mainly set in Australia but also in New Zealand and even the US, depending on where her travels take her. She loves nothing more than for her readers to join her on her journeys.

Book blurb
The discovery of her mother’s diaries unravels a secret which sends Lani on a journey to New Zealand …
She lost her mother in an accident. Now, Lani Dekker is determined to meet the man who, according to her mother’s diaries, is her father. He’s not what she expected, a bit on the extravagant side, but she soon warms up to him, thanks no less to Dylan, her father’s neighbour. Despite her attraction to Dylan, she can’t figure out whether he’s a friend or foe.
Dylan Harper is merely going through the daily motions after his wife died in a ski crash. That is, until his life is turned upside down by the arrival of his neighbour’s daughter. Their attraction is instant, even more so when they wake up in the same bed after an earthquake. However, it’s her accusation that his interest in her involves her father’s money rather than their mutual magnetism that derails their newfound bond.
Will finding the truth about her parents be a chance for Lani and Dylan to overcome their differences?

Welcome back, Iris. I’d love to visit NZ myself. I had a friend who went there not long ago, and loved it. Good luck with that new book.

My wife and I watched a few seasons of cool series set in NZ — it looks like a beautiful place. Brokenwood.

I have to have a look whether I can find the series as well. Sounds good. Thank you.
Have you heard of / watched “The Doctor Blake Mysteries” ?

Not familiar with that one. We don’t get many of the shows I see advertised and want to watch… because they’re not available (yet) on Acorn or the other services we subscribe to.
