My daughter is helping me out this week! She’s got mum and dad’s love for travel, so it seemed appropriate for her to take over the blog today with this week’s theme A continent / country / city you’ve always wanted to visit … and why.
PS – She’s 12.
If I could go to any continent/country or city I would choose to go to Europe. I would travel all around Europe because of its history and icons like the Eiffel tower, coliseum and the leaning tower of Pisa. I find it fascinating that mankind made such beautiful buildings and artefacts like the Mona Lisa. I think the people who built the coliseum put in so much detail into the building and now days the architects put so little time putting in detail to make it look it so much better. One of the main countries in Europe I would love to go to is Greece because of all of the old buildings that the Greeks built with so much work and effort in them. I would also like to see who people who live on the Venice River get to places and how they live with a river on their front door step and I would also like to go on a cruise on the Rhine river and see all the castles in the hills and their beauty. I would also like to go in the snow and go snow sledding down the hill because we don’t get much snow down here in Australia or though I have seen snow in America but my hands got so cold I started crying. I would also like to go to one of the many great big festivals where you wear the masks and only reveal yourself to everyone at midnight and I would love to ride one of the double-decker buses in London. I would also like to go to London and go down Portobello road with all the markets and I would spend the whole day there looking at all the little stalls that people have made up and I would buy so much that I would have to buy more suitcases. If I went to Paris I would go to the Art Gallery and see the Mona Lisa and see if her eyes actually followed me around the room and I would love to go on the six lane roundabout and see how long it takes me to get from the middle to the outside.

I hope you get your wish Carleigh! I’ve been to almost all the places you’ve mentioned, and they are all well worth seeing. But in addition to seeing the places, be sure you take time to meet the people there. There are wonderful people all over the world, and you can never have too many friends.

Oh, yes, my husband and I always planned on going to Europe to see the historic sites.That is one thing we always had in common.There is so very much , so rich in culture, it would be hard to chose.I am sure you will be back there, Carleigh.I am sure your Mum would have a bit to say about traveling, too. Carleigh, since you are so interested, maybe you should start your own blog, seriously.I am not putting you off,I just see your interest and budding talent and think you’d enjoy it. I would certainly visit you there and I bet there are young people who share your interests out there, too. I wish I had encouragement when I was younger.(I should have more encouragement now!).
Keep writing and maybe we will both get to Europe at the same time!

I would like to visit most of the places you mentioned, though I would start with various locations in Great Britain. Then work my way thru Europe and the Mediterranean.

Carleigh, what a wonderful post. I have a granddaughter who is 12 and hopes to go to London this year with her cheer team. I know you will enjoy Germany someday when you visit there. The castles on the hills are beautiful! I would love to visit Greece and Turkey one day, but I’d love to visit Australia and New Zealand first. Happy travels and keep writing!

Great post, Carleigh! And I would totally go with you on those double-decker buses in London. London is very high on my list of places to visit. Plus, I’d have to bring my 14 year old daughter who I think you’d get along with beautifully because she’d also like to visit many of the same places you would for the same reasons.

What an exciting breath of air you visited to us with your blog, Carleigh! “Hold on tight to your dreams” and you will one day see their fruition. Everything you mentioned sounded like such fun! it’s so nice to see someone your age have an affinity for the creations of history!
