Crazy about you …

November has arrived !

Although we’re getting teased with the occasional warm day, weather at the southern tip of Australia is really lacking a “summer ‘tude”. It’s a teeny-weeny bit frustrating!
Anyway, my heart goes out to those in New South Wales who have fought bushfires over the last few weeks. Many have lost their homes, their memories, their everything – my thoughts are with you.

A bit of a change of pace, but this week’s theme … talking being crazy about a program or series and watching it over and over and over … I did want to write about my Dexter addiction a few years back when I watched a whole series in a day or two, but daughter #1, Carleigh, wanted to have a say. So without further ado, I hand over the blog.

An old series that I went crazy about was Dance Academy and I always used to watch it on the computer over and over again. I didn’t watch it from the start when it came on TV, but one day when I was flicking through the channels I found it and I decided to watch it. I loved the show so much because it showed me life as a teenager and all the highs and lows, the laughs and heartbreak. Throughout the series, for me the worst part was whenDanceAcademy Sammy Liebermann died in a car crash on the morning of the Prix De Fonteyn ballet competition. It was so sad that when I watched it on the computer I was in tears, because it felt like you were missing someone in your family because you felt so close to them, but in the real life you don’t even know them and they don’t know you. For me the worst character was Saskia, I really didn’t like her and in the end I think Tara was so good that she started giving Tara bad marks because Tara was so much better than her. I got so angry when Saskia snapped Tara’s back. My favourite character was Kat because she was so out there and she stood up to her parents who were a famous ballerina and a brilliant choreographer. Throughout second year Kat really suffered because she didn’t make it into second year like all her other friends. Another two people who suffered were Christian who was a criminal and Tara. They loved each other throughout the 3 series but they always ended up on the bad side, because they would always fight and argue. I couldn’t have a favourite part because I loved all of the episodes through the three series.

Thank you Carleigh!

Anybody out there who has that one series they couldn’t get enough of?

Buffy. I could have kept watching Buffy forever.
More recently there was a show in the US called Deadwood. They never made a fourth season of that. It was brilliant (it’s where my Timothy Olyphant addiction started). At the end of 3 seasons, there was talk about them putting a movie-length episode together to tie all the loose ends, rather than leave viewers in the lurch. But that never happened, and won’t now.
    Deadwood was brilliant TV.

Cheers – and thanks for letting your daughter rule your blog today.

Buffy the vampire? I’ve heard of it, but have to admit, I’ve never watched it …. and i’ve never heard of Deadwood. I have a feeling I need to do some research 😉
      My obsession was Dexter 😀
      thanks for coming by, Lily!

Great post Carleigh! I’ll have to look into this series, I’ve never heard about it before and it sounds interesting! Thanks for the info on it. 🙂

Thanks Lisa …. I can remember the weeks when Carleigh was constantly watching the program… I think I even got sucked into an episode as well at some stage 😉

    Enjoyed hearing from Carleigh again.
Not familiar with this Dance Academy series, but I can see how it might captivate the attention of a teenaged girl.

There are many series that I enjoyed and could easily get crazed about if I happened to watch one when in the right mood, such as Carleigh did, and decided to get stuck on the whole series! LOL! That’s probably the reason I don’t watch too much TV as a whole, bc I don’t want to get stuck watching something like a new series bc I like it. I don’t have TIME for that! I couldn’t watch a whole series in a couple days like Iris did, either. LOL!

It sounds like you’re going through the same thing with your “bush fires,” as we have with our “forest fires,” Iris. The loss for so many is a sad thing 😦

    • Iris B says:

We don’t watch much tv here either, but once a series interests us … there’s no stopping!

Yes, bushfires are terrible here and it’s “only” spring!

  5. Yes,I’m sorry for the people in the fires; my son was checking on how many U.S.Firefighters have gone down to help.
I am thoroughly lost about the teen dance show;I imagine the rest of we older folks are.

I know what you mean Tonette. When my girls and I went to the beach during the last holidays and was staggered what kind of series they’re watching … some of them nice, some funny, some you just roll your eyes 😉
