“If you were approached to write one or more episodes for a TV show (past or present), which show would it be… and why?”
For starters I don’t think I’d be a very good TV writer. It would be hard to take a story and boil it down to thirty minutes or an hour. You wouldn’t have space to develop characters, etc. like you might want. That being said, if I had to write an episode, I’d do something for Star Trek.
I have no idea when or why I developed a liking for science fiction. I remember when the original Star Trek aired I thought it was silly. I didn’t watch the show until years later, and when I did I liked it very much. In fact I watched all of the various Star Trek programs that came on over the years. I guess maybe Enterprise was my favorite.
Of course I also enjoyed Stargate SG1 too. The characters were a little stereotyped (like in Star Trek), but it was a fun show.
So have I written any science fiction? Yeah, I have a light science fiction novel completed. The sci/fi elements are extremely mild. Mostly the book focuses on the interaction between the characters. I’ve really got to pull it out and dust it off.
What about you? Are there any other sci/fi lovers reading this?
I had no idea that you were a Star Trek fan! I feared when I wrote my post for Friday.
It IS amazing how much a good series has packed into the 45-ish minutes of screentime.
I love Enterprise. (Ya gotta love Archer!)
Show me this and DS9 episodes with Jeffrey Combs and I am glued to the set!

You do have to love Archer! Deep Space 9 was one of my favorites too.

I watched Star Trek regularly, and enjoyed the first Star Wars movie when it first came out. Author Diane Burton has been my guest here on our blog a few times with her space romances – she has two different series (so far) set in outer space, and I’ve read and enjoyed every single one. So no, you’re not the only one!

I really enjoyed the original Star Trek series… even though it feels pretty corny NOW (when I happen to catch a clip or two).
I never got into the ST feature films.

You’d have liked them, I think. The show was well cast.
